$1 Million Dollar Match Opportunity

May 15, 2024 | Uncategorized

One Million Dollar MatchA generous, anonymous donor has offered Old Town Hot Springs (OTHS) an incredible opportunity: raise one million dollars from the community, and they will match one million dollars for the It’s In the Water Capital Campaign. This means every donation is now doubled until OTHS hits the one million dollar mark.

The announcement of the one-million-dollar match builds on the organization’s recent momentum with the campaign. In 2023, OTHS raised over three million towards the essential community project, and last week, they were awarded an impactful one-million-dollar grant from an anonymous foundation. The grant was awarded to support the pool reconstruction project and solidify the vision and legacy of the OTHS leadership and their continued drive to provide the community with health and wellness opportunities.

With the recent grant, the organization has just over one million left to meet the 10-million-dollar campaign goal that was set in 2020. OTHS is beyond grateful for this incredible opportunity that will help close the gap on costs for the project. “We are blown away by the magnitude of support the project has received from our donors, the community, and the local businesses that are working on the project,” said Stephanie Orozco, Executive Director of Old Town Hot Springs. “When you support Old Town Hot Springs through a donation, you are supporting 56 local businesses that are involved. This project was created for the community, funded by the community, and is being built by the community.” Added Orozco.

Community members can show their support by donating online now, with all donations being doubled through the match! Additionally, all proceeds from the upcoming 5th annual Flip Flop Fete fundraiser, on Thursday, June 13th will go towards the million-dollar match.

This project is a designated Enterprise Zone (EZ) project as 90% of the businesses working on the project are local, creating a significant economic impact. All donations qualify for both an EZ Tax Credit and the charitable donation deduction for federal and state taxes. The OTHS Lap Pool Reconstruction Project is the last phase of a capital improvement plan set in motion by the board and leadership team 15 years ago with the goal of supporting the health and wellness needs of our growing community. In 2019, OTHS completed phase 1: The 8 million dollar building expansion project, adding 15,000 square feet to the facility, including an expanded fitness center, 37-foot climbing wall, community room, and more. The second phase of the capital campaign, “It’s in the Water,” began on January 1, 2020, and was thoughtfully designed with community impact at the forefront. The project includes a 25-yard, eight-lane lap pool and diving board, a shallow-depth community pool, a hot soaking pool, and a new and improved zero-depth kiddie splash area and is scheduled to open summer of 2025.
