Head Swim Coach & Swim Lesson Coordinator (60/40 split)

Job Title: Head Swim Coach & Swim Lesson Coordinator (60/40 split) 

Reports To: Aquatics Director 

Position Overview:  

As Head Swim Coach this person is responsible for overseeing all aspects of and leading the Steamboat Springs Swim Team, including developing and implementing training plans for swimmers of varying ages & levels, managing a team of part-time coaches, recruiting new athletes, scheduling practices and competitions, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all swimmers while achieving optimal performance at swim meets, all while collaborating with OTHS management and club parents.  

As Swim Lesson Coordinator this person is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the OTHS swim lesson program, including scheduling and supervising swim instructor staff, scheduling group swim lessons, community education, assisting in preparation of annual budgets, and the financial accounting for all lessons and other charges collected in connection with swim lessons operation. 

 

Head Swim Coach Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training plans for all roster groups. 
  • Create and maintain team policies and handbooks.  
  • Personally coach the senior roster group.  
  • Hire, schedule, and supervise part-time swim team coaches, assigning responsibilities and providing ongoing coaching development as needed. 
  • Ensure compliance with all USA Swimming rules and regulations.  
  • Create a competition schedule, manage all meet entries and coach travel to swim meets. The head coach will be expected to travel as needed to support the team when assistant coaches are not available to cover.  
  • Assist the Aquatics Director with annual program budget, including cost controls. 
  • Coordinates with the Aquatics Director to schedule Lap Pool and Community Pool use. 
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss goals, strategies, and team dynamics. 
  • Setup & put away equipment for team practices.   
  • Foster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. 
  • Communicate effectively with parents and athletes regarding training plans, swim meet schedules, team updates. The head coach is responsible for all parent communication.  
  • Oversee athlete behavior. 
  • Promote a safe and enjoyable pool area.   
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics and Marketing Directors to promote Swim Team within the community and attract new swimmers.  

Swim Lesson Coordinator Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, plan, and schedule swim lessons for all levels and ages. 
  • Teach swimming and water safety skills (when needed) to individuals of various ages. 
  • Supervision of the swim instructor team including recruiting, training, and scheduling instructors.  
  • Assist in development of a community outreach and education program to ensure that all Routt County youth have the opportunity to learn how to swim regardless of income. 
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics and Marketing Directors to promote OTHS swim lessons within the community.  

 

Other Shared Responsibilities: 

  • Interpret and enforce OTHS Pool rules and Policies to ensure the safety of all swimmers.  
  • Be familiar with OTHS emergency procedures.  
  • Display professional behavior when representing OTHS (interacting with members/guests, swim meets, events at the pool, etc.) 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.   

 

Combined Job Requirements: (must have or be able to obtain/renew within 60 days of hire) 

  • Current USA Swimming Athlete Protection Training, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Foundations of Coaching 101, and background check.  
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) 
  • American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED (CPRO or Lifeguarding preferred) 
  • Experience coaching swimmers at varying levels, from beginner to elite. 
  • Experience teaching varying levels of swimming lessons. 
  • Strong understanding of stroke mechanics, technique, and training methodologies. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with swimmers, parents, and Aquatics staff.

Lifeguard
Job Summary:
The Lifeguard will ensure swimmers’ safety in the pool area and administer first aid or lifesaving techniques when needed.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Ensures that the rules and regulations of the swimming pool are followed to maintain a safe swimming environment.
· Administers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and uses automated external defibrillator (AED) when needed.
· Contacts emergency medical personnel when a serious injury occurs.
· Performs occasional pool cleaning and maintenance tasks such as emptying trash cans.

Old Town Hot Springs is looking for Massage Therapists to join the Massage Team. The Massage Therapist will apply a range of massage techniques involving hands and fingers to relieve pain in muscles, soft tissues, and other parts of the body.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Consults with clients before massage to identify and evaluate areas requiring therapeutic treatment.
  • Consults with clients to assess their expectations, and asks questions related to pain or discomfort and to learn and/or update their medical histories as necessary and appropriate to the scope of treatment.
  • Performs requested or suggested massage techniques, that may include deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, sports massage, prenatal massage, myofascial release therapy, lymphatic drainage.
  • Occasionally communicates with the patient throughout the massage to ensure comfort with pressure levels and techniques being applied.

  • Ensures smooth transitions between massage techniques.
