Job Title: Aquatics Director

Reports To: Operations Director

Position Overview: As the only public swimming facility in Routt County, Old Town Hot Springs (OTHS) is dedicated to providing aquatic health, wellness, and education opportunities to our members, guests, and the broader community. The Aquatics Director is responsible for overseeing all aquatic operations and programming at OTHS, including lifeguarding, water safety instruction, aquatic programs, and the Steamboat Springs Swim Team. This role ensures the highest standards of safety, service, and operational excellence.

Essential Job Functions:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing aquatics team with clear direction and integrity.
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and retain staff, ensuring a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Serve as a lead instructor for lifeguard, CPR, and in-service training.

Ensuring Exceptional Safety and Standards

  • Able to act as a subject matter expert on the Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) and local/state pool regulations.
  • Ensure consistent presence on the pool deck to support safety, staff engagement, and adherence to policies.
  • Lead cross-departmental training and drills related to OTHS Emergency Action Plan
  • Strong understanding of Crisis Management.

Budget

  • Monitor department expenses, payroll, and revenue monthly to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
  • Take ownership of the annual Aquatics department budget development and planning.

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or comparable professional work experience.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in an Aquatics operational leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated success recruiting, managing, and developing a team of at least 50+ staff.
  • Strong background in program development, staff supervision, and fiscal management.

Head Lifeguard (full-time)

Job Title: Head Lifeguard

Reports to: Aquatics Director

Job Overview:
Head Lifeguard is a full-time position responsible for scheduling, training, evaluation, and supervision of the lifeguard staff. They are also responsible for scheduling and conducting lifeguarding classes, regular lifeguard In-Service training, public CPR classes, and other aquatics training as needed to develop and maintain a professional and safe lifeguard team.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide direct supervision of the Lifeguard staff including:
o Scheduling lifeguards to accommodate pool needs, managing shift swaps, and personally (if-needed) covering callouts.
o Observing, evaluating, and coaching the lifeguard staff.
o Ensure that the lifeguards fairly and evenly enforce safety rules of the swimming pool to maintain a safe environment.
o Assist lifeguards with member and/or guest interactions to enforce safety rules or code of conduct.
o Develop, schedule, and conduct monthly In-service training for the lifeguard team.
o Scheduling and conducting Red Cross Lifeguard certification classes as needed throughout the year.
o Work regular lifeguard shifts as needed to fill the schedule and maintain a full-time workload. The Head Lifeguard is expected to meet and preferably exceed the duties and performance standards of the OTHS lifeguards in their charge.
• Maintain records of staff training, certifications, and incident documentation.

Lifeguard
Job Summary:
The Lifeguard will ensure swimmers’ safety in the pool area and administer first aid or lifesaving techniques when needed.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Ensures that the rules and regulations of the swimming pool are followed to maintain a safe swimming environment.
· Administers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and uses automated external defibrillator (AED) when needed.
· Contacts emergency medical personnel when a serious injury occurs.

Job Summary:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and operations of all resort facilities. This includes ensuring that all buildings, grounds, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead a team of maintenance staff. The Facilities Manager will report directly to the Facilities Director, who handles budget management and strategic planning. To ensure full coverage and consistent support across our operations, we have two Facilities Managers. This role will work in close partnership with our current Facilities Manager to coordinate responsibilities, align on priorities, and provide seamless facilities oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Plan, coordinate, and supervise all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring that all facilities are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Team Management: Co-lead, train, and supervise a team of 12-13 maintenance staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Vendor Coordination: Oversee relationships with external contractors and vendors, ensuring timely and quality service delivery.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a hospitality or resort environment.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a solid understanding of building systems and maintenance. Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain a strong, cooperative working relationship with the team.

This position leads the enforcement of the Code of Conduct, oversees risk mitigation, emergency preparedness, and facility monitoring. The Safety & Security Manager focuses on proactive safety practices, training, empathetic leadership, and strong cross-departmental collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Code of Conduct:

  • Investigate: Investigate Code of Conduct violations by reviewing available evidence including video, witness statements and staff reports.
  • Enforce: When necessary, enforce the Code of Conduct with empathy and coordinate organizational action including written warnings, membership suspensions and issuing trespassing notices.
  • Policy Review: As appropriate, review the Code of Conduct, By Laws, and Facility Rules to maintain a safe atmosphere for customers from all backgrounds.

Site Security:

  • Parking Lots: Maintain orderly parking lots and monitor for long term / overnight parking.
  • Building: Ensure doors, windows, fire exits and “staff only” areas are maintained.
  • Pool Area: Review effectiveness of pool area fencing, fire exits and mechanical room access points.
  • Land: Inspect open areas to monitor trespassing, camping and fence integrity.

Risk Management

  • Staff Education: Foster strong teams by proactively training staff members in de-escalation techniques, nonviolent conflict resolution, customer engagement, crisis management and diffusing tension.
  • Emergency Action Plans: In collaboration with all organizational departments, review existing emergency action plans and assist directors in offering impactful staff trainings.
  • Crisis Management: Maintain the organizational crisis management matrix and train new team members on how to implement it.
  • Incident Reporting & Cataloging: Collect incident reports organization wide then catalog and compile them into useful statistics to address persistent problem areas. Review incident reports and debrief with impacted team members to improve future responses.
  • Emergency Equipment: In collaboration with the Aquatics Department and Facilities Department, review available emergency equipment and plan for future purchasing.

On Site Presence:

  • Monitor & Patrol: Proactively patrol all areas on property in person to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for customers. Engage with customers and staff during these patrols to build relationships based in trust.
  • Interdepartmental Backup: Be available to back up other teams when things do not go as planned.
  • Emergencies: Provide a calm, professional and practiced presence during emergencies while carrying out the Emergency Action Plan.
  • Lost & Found: Organize lost and found items. Contact customers, turn over to police, donate or dispose of as needed.
  • Asset Protection: Protect company owned items from theft. Monitor retail inventory and pursue strategies to reduce theft.
  • Liaison with Emergency Services: Be the point of contact for police and fire department communications.

Market Responsibilities:

Massage Therapist

Old Town Hot Springs is looking for Massage Therapists to join the Massage Team. The Massage Therapist will apply a range of massage techniques involving hands and fingers to relieve pain in muscles, soft tissues, and other parts of the body.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Consults with clients before massage to identify and evaluate areas requiring therapeutic treatment.
  • Consults with clients to assess their expectations, and asks questions related to pain or discomfort and to learn and/or update their medical histories as necessary and appropriate to the scope of treatment.
  • Performs requested or suggested massage techniques, that may include deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, sports massage, prenatal massage, myofascial release therapy, lymphatic drainage.
  • Occasionally communicates with the patient throughout the massage to ensure comfort with pressure levels and techniques being applied.
  • Provides a relaxing and safe environment for clients.
  • Ensures smooth transitions between massage techniques.
  • Demonstrates and educates clients on methods to soothe and strengthen targeted muscles and tissues at home; may provide reference materials or links to websites and videos for further guidance and instruction.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to correctly perform a variety of massage techniques including deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, and sports massage.
  • Friendly and courteous demeanor, with ability to help patrons feel welcomed and relaxed.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of massage therapy training program through an approved school or apprenticeship program required. Coursework and clinical work minimum requirement to 650 total hours.
  • Active licensure as a massage therapist required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and providing massages.
  • Must have necessary arm, hand, and finger strength and dexterity to provide massages.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
